GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING IS ESSENTIAL TO ANY SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Stability is essential to construction, and CTL’s geotechnical engineers can assess the risk to humans, property, and the environment from hazards like sinkholes and landslides. Experience matters. It’s our goal to achieve sustainability, solve complex problems, and mitigate future risks.

CTL geotechnical engineers are an essential and integral part of any successful construction project. Knowledge, experience, and sound judgment with accurate and reliable soil data are a core component of CTL geotechnical engineering staff.

BUILT ON A FOUNDATION KNOWLEDGE, TRUST, AND RELIABILITY

CTL performs engineering analyses to address items like slope stability, soil swell and settlement, site response, and foundation designs for airports, bridges, schools, municipal structures, and hospitals.

We help with new construction and failure investigations, even providing expert-witness services in court cases to establish causes of damages and help determine who is liable. We evaluate soil and rock to understand the site’s geology and history, we design slope retention systems, and we monitor quality control systems during construction.

We strive to provide clients the insight and information needed to keep a project on the right path. CTL has a history of offering proven, practical, innovative solutions, and recommendations to fit a project’s site conditions, construction type, budget, and schedule.

Some of our geotechnical engineering services include:

  • Engineering analysis and design
  • Instrumentation
  • Geophysical testing
  • Legal testimony-forensic and expert witness
  • Slope stability, landslide, and foundation failures
  • Drilling, coring, and in-situ testing
  • Laboratory testing
  • Foundation analysis-shallow and deep foundation design
  • Embankment and earth dam analysis
  • Pavement thickness design

We routinely provide subsurface investigations on:

  • Roads and bridges
  • Airport terminals, runways, and taxiways
  • Water/wastewater treatment facilities
  • Hospitals, parking garages, higher education, and PK-12 Schools and energy facilities
  • Telecommunications towers
  • Commercial, retail, municipal, manufacturing, and industrial facilities
  • Dams, lagoons, reservoirs, ponds, and levees

CTL OFFERS FULL-SERVICE CAPABILITIES

CTL’s geotechnical engineers offer full-service capabilities using innovation and the latest technologies. We value and focus on engineering and work closely with architects, developers, owners, and contractors to do all we can to help a project succeed.

Our accredited laboratories perform the ASTM tests of soil samples for determining various engineering properties. CTL’s laboratories are accredited for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Materials Reference Laboratory.

We strive for uncompromising quality, environmental and health, and safety processes. We’ve been performing slope-stability analyses across the U.S. for more than nine decades.  Educating our clients about the risks and benefits of our recommendations is important to us. CTL’s geotechnical engineers know how the forces of nature work and can dissect soils of different regions of the country.

THE BEST FOUNDATION TO GET STARTED

CTL has completed extensive geotechnical engineering projects around the country. By collaborating with our other CTL departments, our geotechnical engineers extend our scope, giving our clients full-service solutions and providing the best foundation to get started.
