Senior /Project Geotechnical Engineer-Chantilly, VA

 

General Statement of Duties : 

We are seeking a Senior/Project geotechnical engineer to meet the growing demand for our CTL VA office in support of Site/Land Development, Transportation Design, and Municipal projects.  Understanding of local geotechnical and construction testing & inspection requirements are preferred.  Demonstrate good communications skills both verbally and in writing, and ability to work with clients in the public, private sectors and on federal projects.  Materials Laboratory managerial experience a plus.  Requires a BS (advanced degree a plus), EIT or PE (VA or eligible) & 5-10 yrs. experience in the DC Metro area preferred.

 Examples of Duties: 

• Perform routine and complex field exploration programs for a wide range project types.
• Assist in planning and execution of subsurface investigation programs, locating test boring inspections in the field and utility coordination
• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate field and laboratory services for a wide range of project types
• Review of project geotechnical data and structural information from a variety of regions encompassing a wide range of geologic settings
• Reviews soils laboratory test result
• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design of shallow/deep foundations and slope stability evaluations for variety of land development and transportation projects, including data reduction, report and specification preparation
• Developing preliminary and final foundation design recommendations, including deep foundations, retaining walls, soil improvements, slope stability, earth embankments, anchoring systems, etc

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of LRFD analyses for geotechnical/transportation project preferred.
• Knowledge of software packages including LPILE, GROUP, SLIDE/GSTABL, GINT, RSPILE, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office products

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil engineering with a concentration in geotechnical engineering

Experience:

• Experience in all types of subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, foundation engineering, analysis, engineering report writing, preparation of contract documents

Years of Experience:

• 5+ years of relevant work experience

Desired Certifications:

• Licensed P.E.
