Construction Project Inspectors-Central and Northeast Ohio

CTL Engineering construction inspection quality control

General Statement of Duties : 

We are seeking Project Inspectors within the Construction Services Department to meet the growing demand for our Central and Northeast Ohio offices. Projects include state, county, local roadway and bridges as well as municipality utilities and infrastructures.  A highly developed professional with proven knowledge and experience in the development of construction administration.

Supervision Received: Works independently under the direction of the  Manager.

Examples of Duties:

  • Performs construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects.
  • Monitors and enforces quality standards and specifications read blueprints and works on a variety of construction projects.
  • Inspects construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals and bridge projects.
  • Verifies plan quantities and calculations with as bid plans, prepares and maintains project records and reports and performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.
  • Notifies the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.

  • Ability to be reliable, a team player and monitor and enforce quality standards

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from a program accredited by ABET or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management accredited by ACCE (American Council for Construction Education)or
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology or Construction Management, or
  • High School diploma or GED in combination with equivalent 2 or 4-year degree in combination with NICET Highway Construction Level II certification

Certifications desired:

  • ODOT Prequalified Project Inspector
    • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I,
    • OAIMA Ohio Level 1 Aggregate Technician,
    • ODOT Flexible Pavement Training,
    • ODOT Traffic Work Zone Safety
    • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology or Construction Management, or
    • NICET Highway Construction Level II
  • ODOT Prequalified Project Structure Inspector
    • ODOT Advanced Structure Test
  • ODOT Prequalified Traffic Signal and Lighting Inspector
    • ODOT Traffic Work Zone Safety
    • IMSA Traffic Signal Construction Technician Level II Certification
    • IMSA Roadway Lighting Technician Level I Certification
  • ODOT Prequalified Soil and Aggregate Inspector
    • ODOT Nuclear Density/Moisture Gauges and Operators (Supplement 1121)
    • NICET Level II Construction Materials Testing – Subfield Soils, or
    • NICET Level II Geotechnical Engineering Technology – Subfield Construction, or
    • Northeast Transportation Training and Certification Program’s (NETTCP) Soils and Aggregate Inspector Certification
  • ODOT Construction Engineer Level 1 / Construction Manager
  • ODOT Construction Engineer Level 2
  • NICET Construction Materials Testing – Soils Level II and NICET
  • Transportation Engineering Technology-Highway Construction Level II or III, ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I, OAIMA Ohio Level
  • 1 Aggregate Technician, ODOT Flexible Pavement Training
  •  2 years of transportation construction inspection experience is desired, as a minimum. Will consider and train candidates with less experience. CTL will assist in obtaining certifications.
