Job Title: Driller/Driller Helper

General Statement of Duties: (Job Posting Purposes):

We are seeking drillers and driller helpers in our Indianapolis, IN,  branch. A Driller/Driller Helper will assist the crew chief in solid stem and hollow stem auger drilling techniques. The assistant will help move, set up and operate drilling rigs and related equipment to drill holes for geotechnical exploration test borings. Site investigation/geotechnical drilling is done to determine the soil characteristics on construction sites

Examples of Duties: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all that may be found in this job.):

• Expedite field supplies
• Perform duties at multiple job sites
• Communicate job site conditions with engineering staff
• Perform yard duties at direction of supervisor
• Assist in measuring test boring locations
• Load and unload trucks
• Locate borings as needed
• Smoothly and quickly connect and disconnect the lower parts of the drill pipe
• Catch samples of drilled cuttings to be analyzed
• Clean and maintain equipment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in auger, mud rotary and NX rock coring operating various types of rotary drill rigs for split spoon soil sampling and installation of monitoring wells.
Must be familiar with highway construction specifications and have previous field experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related experience required. CDL and 40 hour OSHA Training are preferred but not required.

Experience: One to three years experience in Civil/Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences Field Services needed.

Desirable: Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or certification in related field. Knowledge and understanding of Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Services for OH, IN, PA, WV.
