Construction Field/Engineering Technician Supervisor-Central Ohio

General Statement of Duties : 

Supervise a staff of engineering technician who performs various construction administration, inspection, and materials testing services for public and commercial projects.  Will provide training and mentoring of personnel, scheduling of staff, managing equipment inventory and providing project support for managers. Other duties as assigned. This is a great opportunity to work with a growing team.

Supervision Received: Works independently under the direction of the Department Manager.

Supervision Exercised: Will be responsible for the performance of a staff of engineering technicians and inspectors.

 Examples of Duties: 

• Train personnel in inspecting construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with project specifications, plans, and/or proposals for buildings, roadway work, roadway, pavement, etc
• Train personnel in the various methods of testing of materials such as concrete, earthwork, masonry, and asphalt
• Schedules personnel to various projects
• Manages testing equipment needs and acquires new equipment as necessary
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Department Manager
• Interface with clients, contractors, and designers to solve problems or provide information to our personnel
• May need to visit job sites around Central Ohio to review technician performance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• To be successful in this role, the candidate must be a reliable, on-time, team player with strong communication skills both verbally and written
•  Must have the ability to monitor & enforce quality standards and specifications, read blueprints and be quality minded client focused
•  Experienced in inspection and testing materials testing is also needed in order to be successful in this position

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or certification in related field. Knowledge and understanding of construction or engineering Services for OH, IN, PA, WV.

Desired Certifications

• Certifications in NICET Level III in Highway Construction, NICET Construction
• Material Testing (Soils Level II), NICET Transportation Engineering
• Technology (Highway Construction Level II or III), ACI Concrete Field Testing
• Technician (Grade I), OAIMA Ohio Level 1 Aggregate Technician and ODOT
• Flexible Pavement Training is desirable, but not required

 Experience:

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in Construction and/or Engineering Services needed.
